Sajarur Kanta is about a series of mysterious murders where the quill of a porcupine pierces the heart of the victim, killing him or her instantly. One victim does not die and Byomkesh is summoned. Konkona Sen Sharma plays Deepa, who belongs to a theatre group. She gets married to Debasish but makes it clear that she will not share conjugal relations with him. The two stories, one of Deepa and Debasish's married life and the other of the murder mysteries run parallel till they both converge.

Thakur Bhavani Singh heads a gang of dacoits, who have spread terror and fear in the region. Bhavani has a family, consisting of his wife, Radha, and two sons, Ram and Laxman, and a daughter named Ganga. One day Bhavani kidnaps the son of wealthy Harnam Singh, and will release him for a hefty ransom. Harnam agrees to all the conditions, and hands over the money to Bhavani. Unfortunately, Harnam`s child is killed, and his wife, devastated, curses Bhavani and his family. Subsequently, Bhavani is separated from his family due to heavy rains and floods, and decides to turn himself in to the police, and is sent to prison. His wife has been unable to locate any of their children. Ram and Laxman are taken in by two bandits, and turn to a life of crime, and ironically Ganga is adopted by Harnam Singh. Years later, Bhavani is released from prison, and comes to meet his wife, and is devastated to know that he may never get to see his children again.

Kathi Kantha Rao is a comedy flick. In which, Allari Naresh playing the title role and "Kathi" is the surname of the hero in this movie. Kathi Kantha Rao story revolves around a constable with four sisters and excess family problems. But how he overcomes his family problems by dominating the sub-inspector as well as other senior officials will be shown in a comic manner.

Truth-seeker Byomkesh dons the garb of a hands-on detective, to find out the mystery behind the murders in the city, with the weapon being – porcupine quills.
